Why hourly is the honest answer for wine country
Wineries in Napa and Sonoma are spread across valley roads with thin cell coverage and almost no on-demand cars. A rideshare that dropped you at one estate will not be there when you come out. Booking the car for the block of time removes that problem — and it removes the question of who is staying sober to drive.
